Egyptian Art-The First Great Artist

Everyone remembers the treasures Howard Carter brought out of King Tut’s Tomb. The solid gold mask golden shrines, but what do we really know about these treasures? Most likely the gold is what we remember, but to an artist or historian there is much more. What you see when you look beyond the gold is something amazing. the artistry and craftsmanship that set the ancient Egyptians apart from the rest.

The Greeks and Romans who were also great artist usually get the credit but remember, Egyptian art out-dates both the Greeks and romans by at least two thousand years. Some of the greatest works of art of the ancient world came from the Egyptians around the 18th to the 20th Dynasty’s. Just look at some of this art from the golden mask of King Tut (Cairo Museum in Egypt) to the beautiful bust of Queen Nefertiti (Dahlem Museum in Berlin Germany) wich is concidered one of the greatest works of art of all time.

More of this artwork can still be seen today on the walls of the pharaohs tombs and the walls of the great temples that still stand today. One of these temples is Abu Simbol where Pharaoh Ramses II had four large stone statues of himself built. How such large stone figures could be built with the detail they possess is beyond words.

Even as the paint fades away from a stone relief of an ancient god on a temple wall, one can only imagin what it looked like thousands of years ago with it’s bright colors. One has to give respect where it is due, to these skilled artist whose work has stood the test of time and can be seen to this day.

All About Wrongful Death Cases

Do you know anyone who has been hit by a reckless driver or a careless motorist, shot dead due to mistaken identity, killed due to medical malpractice, etc.? These are examples of wrongful death cases. Generally, these cases are caused by another person’s negligence, carelessness, malpractice or inaction. Even though the death is unintentional, it is still the responsibility of the defendant to provide just compensation for the survivors or victims of wrongful death cases.

Prior to a wrongful death incident, you can file wrongful death lawsuits if you are a relative of the wrongful death victims. Winning these civil lawsuits can recover payment for damages to the victims’ lives. The compensation may cover medical and funeral costs, lost wages including future earnings, lost benefits, lost inheritance, pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of support or companionship, general damages, and punitive damages. However, the last compensation may not be awarded without additional evidence of malicious intent.

Simply, the immediate family members such as the parents, spouses and children of the deceased can file the wrongful death lawsuits on their loved ones’ behalf because they are almost always eligible to file a claim. Minors may need an adult guardian to take a wrongful death lawsuit to court. Moreover, other family members including the stepparents, grandparents and dependents may also be permitted to file suit in some states.

If you realize you have a valid wrongful death claim, you must first consult one of the experienced wrongful death lawyers in your area. Doing so is very important because a wrongful death lawyer can help you gather evidence, understand the law, complete necessary paperwork, and build a convincing lawsuit against the defendant. In addition, to have an attorney can also help lessen the pain, stress and suffering you may be experiencing due to the incident.

The law states that there is a certain amount of time allotted that a person who has lost a loved one due to wrongful death has to initiate a lawsuit. Family members are usually allowed between one and three years from the time of death to file a claim. If they fail to do so, their claims may be shelved forever. Therefore, if you have lost a loved one because of wrongful death, speak to a personal injury attorney for details regarding the reliability of your case now. After all, your loved ones deserve justice for their untimely death and you too for your misery.

Why is Saurons Ring Still Important

Since “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy became a huge blockbuster hit, sales of epic fantasy stories, or also known as high fantasy stories, have tremendously risen. People with disperse backgrounds and interests, who have left the world of fairy tales to move to the real one a long time ago, found themselves visiting their local bookstores or ordering online the masterpieces of J.R.R. Tolkien, among other epic fantasy writers. Those who visualized how Frodo looked like prior to the release of the first of the trilogy films were annoyed with the hysteric reaction of the vast public. For them, epics or high fantasy stories are part of a literature world that one has to be induced and explore in detail and should not be seen as an opportunity to buy another trendy book to place on a coffee table. Whether you consider yourself to be an epic fantasy story expert or amateur, it would be interesting to know what epic fantasy stories are and be able to answer one of those “Trivial” game questions with confidence.

Although the definition of Epic Fantasy is still a subject of debate between fans, critics, and scholars, it is rather challenging for a researcher to come up with a single definition that includes all the necessary meanings the words epic and fantasy convey. One of the most descriptive definitions found, stated that “Epic Fantasy is a subgenre of fantasy and very similar to high-fantasy where a seemingly average person undergoes many trials and ordeals which develop he or she into a hero capable of feats needed to thwart challenges of an epic scale. The story takes place in an imaginative world and often the setting is medieval in nature, complete with swords, castles, strange creatures and a magical system.” What one can understand from the above definition is that the epic story’s hero is not born as such, but life’s events and misfortunes mold him or her to one, as the obstacles are surpassed and he or she contributes to the solution of at least one major problem.

To better understand epic fantasy literature, one should attempt to examine the etymological meaning of the two Greek words used in order to categorize it. “Epic” and “fantasy” convey different meanings and if examined as two components of a story that are linked to create an “unbreakable” sequel, the reader can realize that they were selected exactly because they serve more than one purpose. Specifically, “epic” has two components; heroic and vast. In an epic story one can find a hero or one that performs heroic feats, while the setting of the story is vast in scope. Often an epic describes a whole world in which the hero interacts with others and manages to accomplish the impossible deed vested upon him or her. On the other hand, fantasy is defined as creative imagination and is characterized by highly fanciful or supernatural events. If the two words are combined, one realizes that the epic fantasy story is a sequence of events based on the writers creative imagination that portray a hero’s feats that take place on an epic scale and have tremendous consequences to others.

According to Joseph Cambell, in his work “The Hero’s Journey,” one of the most important aspects of epic fantasy stories is the development of the main character from an “average person” to a “hero.” The steps that he identifies are simple and easily found in any epic fantasy story. First, the main character has to be called to undertake a journey during which he or she is aided by a guide or a mentor that has supernatural powers and as the story develops the “average person” is transformed through a series of tasks and ordeals to a hero. Sounds familiar? Perhaps now you can picture yourself as that “hero” and your everyday life seems not that “real” anymore!
