Look and Feel Great for the Holidays - Get Started Now!

The holidays will be upon us in a flash. Wouldn’t you like to
appear at the next holiday party looking great and having plenty
of energy left to have fun?

Then you’d better get started!

Here are 10 easy things you can do to start looking and feeling
better right away, and lose some of that weight before the
holidays - without suffering a bit.

1. Drink 8 glasses of water throughout the day.

* It fills you.

* It satisfies your thirst, which is often mistaken for
hunger.

* It flushes out toxins and wastes (including fat.)

* It keeps your organs working their best, which means
they can absorb nutrients, get rid of the garbage, your
skin will look better, you’ll think better, you’ll
have more energy, and you’ll burn more calories.

2. Make 5 a Priority.

Even if you change nothing else, make eating at least 5
servings of vegetables and fruits a priority each day.
At mealtime, eat the fruits and vegetables first, leaving
less room for the worse things on your plate.
You’ll be surprised at how big a difference this one
little change will make.

3. Eat Something From Every Food Group Every Day.

Your body needs all sorts of foods to operate its best,
including fats and some sugar. The better your body works,
the better you feel, and the more calories you burn. Be leery
of any diet that tells you to eliminate an entire food group.
It’s not healthy, and it will be hard to stick with.

4. Added Nutrition.

At a minimum, take a good vitamin and mineral supplement
everyday. It’s almost impossible to get every single nutrient
your body needs everyday just by diet alone. Besides, who
has the time to spend counting calories and nutrients?

5. Get Some Sort Of Exercise Every Day.

Take a walk, take the stairs, vacuum, dance, just get
moving. Even if it’s 10-minute spurts a few times a day.
It doesn’t have to be earth shattering.

6. Cook Fresh Dinners.

Fast food and prepared foods have a lot of saturated fat, salt,
chemicals, and they don’t taste all that great. Cook healthy
is really very fast and easy. Use lots of raw vegetables and
fruits. No cooking required!

7. Get Enough Sleep.

Your body repairs itself while you sleep. You’re even burning
calories! When you don’t get enough sleep, you tend to
compensate by eating a lot of empty calories that further
drain your energy.

8. Try Not To Over Schedule Yourself.

When you’re running around like crazy it’s too easy to just
grab junk food - which only drains your energy even more.

9. Eat All Day.

The secret is to keep your body fueled all day. Most people
make the mistake of not eating all day, and then eating too
much at night when you’re not going to do enough to burn
it off. (But stop eating when you’re full.)

10. Stop Eating a Couple of Hours Before Bed.

If you feel hungry at bedtime, have a piece of cheese and a
few baked crackers just to take the edge off. It’s actually
not good to go to bed hungry. But stay away from sugar
and caffeine before bed.

The truth is, it’s not that hard to lose weight. Just by following these 10 simple tips you will start losing weight almost effortlessly.

Want to speed it up more? Cut our saturated fats and pop, and
get more exercise. The whole key to losing weight is to burn
more than you take in. In time, once you’ve mastered better
eating habits, you can make it mathematically impossible to
gain weight.

The question isn’t “can you lose weight”. Of course you can.
The question is, will you? Get started today - be a knockout
for the holidays!

Eat Healthy and Lose Weight

Is it possible to eat more food and actually lose weight? Absolutely, if you eat more of healthy foods than empty calorie foods (junk food).

Not everyone realizes that you do not have to deprive yourself in order to lose weight. What you have to do is eat more of healthy foods, leaving less room for “bad” foods. If you eat healthy foods - meaning foods high in vitamins and nutrients and are flavorful - you will find that you want less of high calorie or empty calorie foods. Having a variety of foods that you like and want to eat makes it easier to maintain any changes you make to your diet.

When making any changes to the way you eat, do so slowly and don’t criticize yourself if your changes take time to become a habit. Study after study has shown that making small changes is what counts. One change at a time will be easier to accomplish and stick with than making a lot of changes all at once. Every little change you make will bring benefits to your health and your waistline.

Here are some changes you can make one at a time that can give you quick weight loss results:

Eat breakfast
A lot of people skip breakfast. This is a big mistake if you are trying to lose weight. Studies show that those who do not eat breakfast will overeat later in the day. Also, eating breakfast gets your metabolism going, and so whatever is eaten in the morning is metabolized better. If you are not a breakfast eater, try a fruit smoothie or other nutritional shakes.

Drink water
Try to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day. Ice water is best because it will speed up your metabolism. Water is, of course, calorie free and flushes out fat. And lastly, drinking water about a half hour before eating will curb your hunger and will make it less likely that you will overeat.

Add vegetables
Adding vegetables to some of your favorite dishes is a good way to get in some extra servings of veggies every day. Some examples are: sauces, soups, omelets, sandwiches, and salads. Of course, vegetables make a great snack by themselves or dipped in low-calorie dressings.

Try to eat more salads
If you’re anything like I used to be, as soon as I heard the word “salad,” I would immediately think “boring!” That is until I figured out how creative one can be when making a salad. Try adding new vegetables that you haven’t tried before or adding boiled eggs, strips of grilled chicken, cheese, and/or nuts. Keep fresh lettuce and spinach leafs on hand, and remember to go easy on the dressing or make your own healthy salad dressing. A healthy and great tasting dressing is mixed olive oil and lemon juice.

5 Realistic Ways to Tackle Weight Loss

1. Don’t expect to lose 50 lbs in one month!

Set a realistic goal for yourself, or you will be disappointed. And what could be less motivating than disappointment?

If you are continually searching for the miracle ‘quick weight loss diet’, you’re never going to lose weight. It doesn’t exist! Not in a healthy world anyway. Losing around 2 lbs each week is ideal.

Choosing a proper diet and exercise regime is the best solution for weight loss. Slow and steady wins the race, right?

2. Drink water.

I’m not going to list the many reasons why everybody should be drinking a gallon of water each day. I will say however, that drinking enough water can make or break a successful weight loss program.

Drinking more water will leave you less bloated and start getting your body ready for weight loss. Everything in your body will run more efficiently by getting at least 10 8 ounce glasses of water each day.

It is also thought that drinking ice cold water will increase the amount of calories burnt each day due to your body having to heat the water to use it properly.

3. Don’t forget that drinks count as calories!

A lot of people count their calories each day when trying to lose weight. But are they counting the sodas and coffees they are drinking with their food? If you drink one can of coca-cola in the morning, one in the afternoon, and one in the evening, you’ve just consumed 750 calories!

And if you’re really serious about losing weight, staying away from alcohol is a must. You won’t tip the scale if you have one drink now and then, but remember that just one beer can have anywhere from 100 - 175 calories, depending on the brand and amount of alcohol in it.

The best strategy - drink water.

4. Find a ‘weight loss buddy’.

Having someone to lose weight with can actually help you reach your weight loss goal. A weight loss buddy will provide support and encouragement, and maybe even a little friendly competition.

Weight loss buddies can be found online, or you can recruit a friend or family member to go for walks or jogs with you. They can also make your weight loss experience much more enjoyable.

5. Stay motivated.

I know what it’s like to feel really pumped to start losing weight. For the first few weeks (or in my case a few days) you feel really good and you take your weight loss goal seriously.

Then, something happens and you just don’t feel like doing it anymore. The reason for this is lack of motivation.

There are so many sources of motivation, you just have to find one - and keep it. This could be a weight loss buddy as mentioned earlier, a picture of yourself 30 lbs lighter taped to the fridge, or a little black dress hung up in plain view in your bedroom. Use your imagination and come up with something inspiring.
